laughter

the laughter of an unhappy man sounds like an insult. offensive, rude, shrieking.
yet i know he was happy, once, i know the sound of his laughter-
a humble, sweet shyness, bewildering, real, musical.
i hope this one will be heard again soon, by someone.
for then i will know that he has once again arrived at the ease of his grace.
and from afar i will dance in the melody.
